The Stampede Staff have just returned from a busy weekend in Denver Colorado as they were in attendance for the CCM Denver showcase. The event was exactly what the staff was looking for as they spoke with several players that caught their eye over the three day event. "I was impressed with the talent in the showcase especially with the 2000 birth year players. There are some great players coming up to the junior ranks in the near future". Stated coach Beavis. The Stampede made tenative offers to a few players at the event and have signed at least one player for next season squad. (Details of the recent signing's will be announced shortly)
It's a quick 24 hour turnaround time for coach Beavis as he heads out June 1st for Norrtalje Sweden as he was invited to attend the USHL / College showcase. During his time in Sweden coach Beavis will try and sew up his two import players and has been speaking to a couple of high end Swedish players over the past month that have interest in coming to Syracuse. "I am not tipping my hand at this time but we are very close with two high end players that we should have with us for next season." added Beavis Coach Beavis will also be doing some preliminary recruiting for Oswego State College, Morrisville State College and Utica College during his trip to Sweden. "It's a great way to get some eyes on some very good European players for the college guys that they might not otherwise see, I can do a few write-ups on some guys and get some video as well as set up the lines of communication for the schools and players that could fit their programs." Beavis said
All in all Coach Beavis has been happy with the recruiting process even though he has not had much down time over the past three months. But it won't stop in Sweden as the staff will then have to attend a few more events around the country in the upcoming weeks as well. Coach Beavis will be in attendance at the Global Showcase in Las Vegas June20-24th and Coach Althen will venture out to the Chowder Cup in Boston in July.
