Goaltender Steven Kozikoski returns to the Stampede for the 2017-2018 season. Kozikoski the 1999 birth year from Liverpool, NY. Played in 18 games last season with the Stampede with a 9.04 save percentage and a record of seven and seven with one OT loss. Kozikoski at 6’3″ 175 lbs has caught the eye of several scouts at the tier two level as well as some college coaches. “Koz is a great kid with good size and movement. He is a very coachable kid that just never gets rattled.” states Stampede assistant coach Kyle Althen. Kozikoski will compete for the top spot this season with the Stampede with the hopes of getting the call to play in the NAHL next year.
“With Koz being a 99 birth year he has time for sure and I think he may be able to make the jump to tier two next season if he continues his development. Last season he was the guy I could depend on to give us the same effort day in and day out and that goes a long way.” added Stampede coach Mike Beavis.
The Stampede and Kozikoski will hit the ice tomorrow at the Crisafulli Ice Arena in Oswego, NY at 7:30 PM to take on the Northeast Generals in the first action of the season for the home team. The Generals will play in their second game of the season after defeating the Cape Cod Islanders last Sunday 6-2.
