Stampede split on home opening weekend powered by Falso and VanWagner

The Stampede hosted the 2nd place NY Aviators this past weekend at Morrisville State College.  The Stampede out dueled the Aviators in a very tight defensive contest on Saturday evening in front of a decent size crowd at the Morrisville Ice-Plex 1-0 with great goaltending y Kyle VanWagner and the lone goal of the contest scored by Raymond Falso.  "The guy's played a full 60 for sure tonight." stated Coach Jason Lefevre.  Both teams battled hard throughout the game which had only one penalty and plenty of action surrounded by strong defensive play by both teams.  "We kept to our systems throughout the contest which was the main reason for this win"  added coach Beavis.  The teams caught the eyes of both the coaching staff of Morrisville and Pottsdam mens D3 during the contest on Saturday evning as Pottsdam was in town to play game two of a home and home series between the Mustangs.  "That's the main goal of playing at Morrisville, exposure for players in the NA3EHL" added Beavis

Sunday's game was beginning to look the same as the teams were tied 1-1 going into the second period.  But this time the Aviators carried the play and the Stampede got off their game with some composure issues compiled with the superb goaltending of Stephen Mundinger of the Aviators,  Although the game was far more balanced than the score reflected the Aviators came out on top of this one 4-1.

The Stampede staff took some positives out of the weekend as they had a very big contribution from it's 4th line in both games. "It's always a good sign when you can see that your 4th line can contribute.  It ads depth for sure." stated coach Lefevre  All in all the coaching staff was pleased with the work ethic of the Stampede over the weekend and the team will get back to work today to start preparing for this weekends three game homestand VS the Lockport Express.

The Stampede are 1 point shy of 500 in the early goings of the 2015-2016 season and 4 points out of 3rd place with two games in hand.  This weekend s games are huge for the home team as they look to climb the standings with hopes of gaining some ground on the Express and the Roc City Royals as all teams are relatively close in the western standings.
