Steven Kozikoski posted a shutout, stopping all 49 of the Northeast Generals shots throughout the game. The Oswego Stampede took the lead before the halfway point in the second on a goal from Eddie Cannon.
During the second, Cannon opened the scoring for Oswego with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 6:34 with an assist from his teammate Cauchi.
The Stampede’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Kozikoski’s shutout, as he stopped all 49 of the shots he faced. Kozikoski’s counterpart, Souza, also had a big night, managing to stop 34 of 35, but ultimately fell short.
In game two of the weekend, goaltender Ben White grabbed his first win of the season stopping 41 of the 43 shots he faced in the contest. Marcos Zarragoitia netted his first goal of the season in OT to give the Stampede the 3-2 victory and a weekend sweep of the Generals. The Stampede also had goals from Dylan Gulick and Tommy Kilway in the contest The Stampede evened up the season series VS the Gens at 2-2.
This win brings the Stampede’s record to (6-6-2-0) and a solid third place seating only two points behind Jersey Shore for second place.
The Stampede will be back at practice today preparing for a three game trip to Stockholm NJ next weekend to face off against the Skylands Kings. Both teams will be looking to move up in the standings and it could be one of the biggest match-ups of the season for both teams.
