Steven Kozikoski came up big, stopping 48 of 49 shots throughout the game.
In the second period, Marcos Zarragoitia opened the scoring for Oswego with a goal at 18:11 with assists from his teammates Josh Wallace and Jameson Simmonds.
During the third, Ryan Gunther netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 9:25 with a helper from defenseman Rich Hart. Brandon Schweickert finally put Niagara Falls on the board with a goal at 12:28 with an assist from Stephen Minichiello.
Oswego’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Kozikoski’s big night as he stopped 48 of the 49 shots he faced. Kozikoski’s counterpart, Alvin Dow, also had a big night, managing to stop 32 of 34, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Oswego Stampede’s record to (14-21-3-0).
The win also secures a playoff spot for the Stampede. The Stampede will try to keep their five game winning streak alive as they travel to Binghamton to face off against the first place Senators this Friday before returning to “The Fort” again Saturday and Sunday to play the Senators which could prove to be a possible first round playoff match up.
