The Stampede Sweep Roc-City

In game one this past weekend at the “Fort” in Oswego, NY. Dylan Gulick scored his first junior “Hat Trick” and The Oswego Stampede grabbed a 7-5 win over the Roc City Royals. Stampede goals came from Dylan Candleana, Dylan Gulick (3), Jameson Simmonds (2), and Ryan Gunther; while Patrick Nowak, Brandon Corey (2), Jacob Wood, and Calvin Tonzi found the back of the net for the Royals. Oswego’s Ben White made 20 saves on the night, while Frederick Peters stopped 33 shots for Roc City.

Game two of the weekend was played at the Lakeshore arena in Rochester, NY. Steven Kozikoski came up big, stopping 28 of 30 shots throughout the game. The Oswego Stampede took the lead early in the third on a goal from Jameson Simmonds.

Jameson Simmonds contributed with 2 goals and Eddie Cannon chipped in with 2 assists.

In the first period, Gallo opened the scoring for Oswego with a goal at 8:16 with helpers from teammates Cannon and Hart. Gunther deposited a goal at 13:29 with an assist from fellow Stampede forward Kozikoski.

During the second, Corey finally put Roc City on the board with a goal at 4:23 with helpers from Norris and Omara.

In the third, Simmonds answered for Oswego with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 3:59. Blackburn answered for the Royals with a goal at 13:22 with assists from Tonzi and Besser. Simmonds answered for the Stampede with a goal at 15:38 with a helper from his linemate Cannon.

Oswego’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Kozikoski’s big night as he stopped 28 of the 30 shots he faced. On the other hand, Kozikoski’s counterpart, Peters, and Roc City’s defense did not have such a great night allowing 4 goals in 23 shots.

This win brings the Oswego Stampede’s record to (11-21-3-0).

The Stampede will hit the road next weekend in Niagara to face off against the Niagara Powerhawks in what will be two huge games that could secure a Stampede playoff spot in the Northeast division. The two teams will meet at 6:00 PM on Saturday and 1:00 PM on Sunday in Niagara. Catch all the action live on Hockeytv.com.
