Trio Of Stampede Players To Attend Eastern Michigan University

The Stampede are excited to announce that three of last seasons players will be attending Eastern Michigan University this fall and playing ACHA D-1 Hockey for the school. Captains, Hunter Soden and Oscar Lande and Tucker Bartenslager all 1996 birth-year players have committed to playing for the program. The Stampede give Coach Althen a ton of credit in making this happen for all three players as he was an intricate part in the process.

Below is what the Eastern Coaches had to say about the trio.

Soden – “We knew he was very skilled, but we probably didn’t realize how good he was until he came to our prospect skate in May. His character is top notch. Knowing that he was a captain last year and having met his parents on his visit, its easy to see that we are not only getting a high end player, but also a great person.” (Coach Allen)
“Talking to Hunter throughout the season, he just wants to win. He is the type of player that championship teams have. He will do anything to help the team win and has a team first mentality.” (Coach Roemer)

Tuck – “Tucker is going to add size and toughness to our d corps. 6’2″, 220 pound defensemen don’t grow on trees. We are thrilled to have him. His defensive style of play will allow players to feel more comfortable on the offensive side of the puck” (Coach Allen)
“Tucker is a kid with a ton of commitment and character. From the first day we started recruiting him, he bought into out program. He is a fearless player that puts his body on the line each and every night” (Coach Roemer)

Oscar – “Oscar was over a point per game player last year on a solid team. Anytime someone is willing to leave their home and country, you now they’re serious. We expect Oscar to step in and produce from day one.” (Coach Allen)
“Oscar is a player who had numerous opportunities this year and decided to commit to us at Eastern Michigan University. Speaking with Oscar he loves hockey and just wants to play and compete. He is an ultra competitive kid and being an offensive player, he takes a lot of pride in the other aspects of the game. We are extremely fortunate to have him.” (Coach Roemer)

Stampede Organization – “Working with Coach Beavis and Coach Althen have been great. They do a great job of developing young players. All three of the young men they are sending us for this fall are expected to step in and contribute right away. That’s a testament to the Stampede program they run” (Coach Allen)
